Walk & Run for Seniors!
On Friday April 20, 2018, we are delighted to have Honourable Sarah Hoffman (Deputy Premier & Minister of Health) amongst our seniors in Wing Kei Care Centre. Her warmth has brought sunshine smiles to our residents, while Minister Hoffman soaked herself in the warm welcome from residents, and admired creativity in their art and craftwork. She was impressed with our excellent care, our role in training future professionals, and our vision in growth and supporting aging in place. Minister Hoffman has a lot of interest in our strategic plan, and also spent time at the Centre Street West Campus site to understand our growth proposal.
Wing Kei Care Centre gladly received the visit from Ms. Lu Xu, Consul General of People's Republic of China and Mr. Zhenting Gao, Deputy Consul General of People's Republic of China on March 2, 2018. We shared the mutual passion of serving the growing Chinese population in Calgary. Chinese New Year greetings were sent to seniors on all the floors. Lively conversations were shared between the visitors, residents and families. Residents were especially happy receiving mandarin oranges (meaning “gift of Gold” in Chinese) from our guests.
Blessed with sunshine and support from Wing Kei’s friends, family members and community members, a beautiful celebration of Greenview Phase 2 Roof Topping was held on Friday, February 23, 2018. This signifies another major milestone of Wing Kei’s growth. We are thankful to the very encouraging words from all, and will continue to share more details as the construction progresses.
Our annual Chinese New Year Banquet for Residents was held at Wing Kei Care Centre on February 17, and then at Greenview on February 24. Sounds of laughter, warm exchanges of New Year greetings and the excitement of welcoming the lion dances filled the hallways and banquet rooms. On February 24, all the seniors have a very joyful afternoon when Fairchild radio did a live broadcast at Greenview. There were games, sing-along, family member and resident sharing their experiences, and the highlight was a birthday celebration for a 101 year old birthday girl!
