Wing Kei Walkathon

1) When is the $1 - $4 match happening? Will all donations be matched?

The match only applies for the first $10,000 raised. Once $10,000 is raised the match program stops and additional donations will not be matched.

Once $10,000 is donated to the Walkathon every $1 of it will be quadrupled ($1 = $4). If less than $10,000 is donated then no monies will be matched. Donations after $10,000 have been received will not be matched. All donations received by Wing Kei while the $10,000 match is happening will be time stamped. Donations received near the $10,000 goal will be subject to review.

2) Does the match program apply to any donation made?

Only donations to the Walkathon; either to the event, a walker, will be eligible for the match program.

3) Who's sponsoring the match program?

The match program is made possible thanks to the generosity of a number of different sponsors, who wish to remain anonymous.

4) Where can donations be handed in?

Walkers can hand in the donations they have received at either Wing Kei location (Crescent Heights or Greenview) before the Walkathon, or at the Chinese Cultural Centre on the day of the Walkathon. If the donations are handed in while the $10,000 match program is in place then the walker will receive a time-stamped receipt. Please note the receipt does not necessarily mean the donations are part of the match program.

Donations can also be made online via CanadaHelps. Online donations are automatically time stamped and receipts are emailed to the donor.

5) If my donation is part of the match program what amount shows on my donation receipt?

Wing Kei will issue donation receipts based on the donated amount, not the matched amount

6) How will I know if my fundraising/donation has been matched?

All donations received by Wing Kei while the $10,000 match is happening will be time stamped. Donations received near the $10,000 goal will be subject to review.

Once the match program has ended we will advise all walkers whose fundraising was part of the $10,000 match what the total amount of funds they raised is (I.e. amount they raised after the donations have been matched). They will then be recognized as raising the matched donation amount.

Donors who donate while the $10,000 match is in place will not be advised if their donation has been matched.

7) Will my gifts be based only on the amount I fundraise or is the matched donation amount used?

If your fundraising was received while the $10,000 match program was in place then your gifts will be based on the matched donation amount.

e.g. Walkers who have fundraised $100 while the match program is in place will be recognized as raising $400, thus receiving the gifts in the $300-$499 category.

In order to get the 1 to 4 match gifts, the minimum amount fundraised is $100. e.g. if a walker fundraises $99, even though the total matched amount will be $396, no gifts will be given.

8) How much of the $240,000 Walkathon fundraising goal is part of the match program?

$0 to $10,000 of the goal is part of the match program.

9) Is there a limit to how much I can donate?

No. All donations are gratefully received, however donations after the first $10,000 is received will not be matched.
