As a member of the Finance team and working within the mission, vision and values of the Wing Kei, the Accounting Technician will be responsible for providing support in the areas of financial analysis, reporting, internal process and policies review. The Finance team’s scope of services includes admissions partnership with Care team, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general bookkeeping, financial reporting, and developing and implementing an effective and accountable financial reporting system that complies with relevant government legislation and reflects the organization’s vision and strategic direction.

THE ROLE

Key Accountabilities

  • Process accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions.
  • Perform account analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements and general ledger accounts.
  • Manage customer trust accounts including handling funds held in trust for customers and communicate with customers to address any concerns or inquiries.
  • Record donations received, reconcile the data among different system (if required), and summarize the data for analysis or insights into donation trends or patterns.
  • Assist in month-end financial statements and year-end audits and related inquiries.
  • Support in quality assurance; re-engineer processes to maintain resourceful production and high standards of accuracy and compliance.
  • Regularly monitor legal compliance and internal controls.
  • Coordinate various projects as assigned.

THE INDIVIDUAL WHO WILL SUCCEED

  • Is aligned with Wing Kei’s vision and mission to continue to deliver excellence in seniors care.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or equivalent in years of experience in a relevant position)
  • 1 to 2 years of work experience in a similar role is an asset but may consider recent new graduate.
  • Is an individual who honors confidentiality, professionalism; exhibits consistent sound judgement
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and working knowledge of computers and accounting software. Knowledge of Sage software would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, in order to deal with customers (internal and external) at all levels.
  • Strong organization and time management skills to ensure adherence to scheduled deadlines, comfortable with and adaptable to a faster pace of work and is eager to grow and learn.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English; knowledge of Chinese is an asset.
