Wing Kei advancing knowledge and care

Inspiring innovation

We are frequently called on to participate in pilot programs, research, and new initiatives that contribute to practice change. We have partnered with post-secondary institutions including the University of Calgary, University of Alberta, University of Waterloo, and NorQuest College to research and introduce improvements and new technologies to care.

Affecting change

Culture is the values and beliefs that are important to us—and they change over time through our experiences and choices. Wing Kei has been practicing culturally responsive care since the beginning. And while we do it every day, it’s not always easy. Recognizing our expertise, we received a $600K provincial government grant to build an interactive, evidence-based educational experience to strengthen staff knowledge and confidence to engage in culturally responsive palliative and end of life care conversations. The toolkit, which is free to all staff in the sector, was informed by staff, families, academics, and subject matter experts.

“Forging new opportunities to serve ever better, not just at Wing Kei, but around the province. We thank Wing Kei for the examples you have set and the challenge to each of us to go forward with courageous innovation.”
